Which Styles You Prefer?
Basicly theres 3 type of style known as Classic Solitare, Side Stone and Matching Set. Brieftly we explained as below:
Classic Solitare
The solitare is the most popular ring sold. It is pure band of gold or platinum which is attached to the setting, called the "head", which is crowned by the diamond. These bands puts sole, and much desired concentration on the engagement diamond.
The Side Stone
Side stone engagement rings are also made of the diamond, setting and band. With one fundamental difference, the bands are comprised of diamonds within its setting. This is a great compliment for an engagement ring and adds extra brilliance.
Matching Sets
Matching sets can either be solitare or sidestone styles. Sets are basically a combination of a wedding band and an engagement ring together.
Now is the time to consider what's metal type of ring to choose. The 3 type or material to make rings are yellow gold, white gold and platinum.
Yellow Gold Rings
Yellow gold is the classic and traditional choice. Most of us shall prefer yellow gold. The purity of yellow gold is measure in karat. Pure gold is 24 karats and it was too soft to use in jewelery. Since that it has been alloyed with other metals for strength and hardness such as silver and copper. The 18 karat gold is 18/24 gold, which is 75% gold, 14 karat gold is 14/24 gold, which is 58.5% gold and the 10 karat gold is 10/24 gold, which is 41.7% gold.
Yellow gold are less expensive than platinum but polishing will takes away some of the metal. It also makes a diamond looks more yellow. Such that yellow gold bands look good with warmer colored diamonds.
White Gold Rings
White gold actually are 14 karats gold which has been alloyed with difference mixture of siver colored metals such as platinum, palladium, zinc, silver, or nickel. It's oftenly plated with rhodium, to make it look more silver in color.
White gold bands look good with cooler colored diamonds.
White gold relatively less expensive than platinum and will last a lifetime. But, same to yellow gold, polishing takes away some of the metal and over the time, white gold plated may begin to look yellow as it wears.
Platinum Rings
Platinum has gained in popularity recently. It's even rarer and more valuable than gold. Platinum is not graded by karats, but marked as PLAT 950. It is a very hard metal, so some consider it to be a symbol of enduring love.
Platinum bands look good with cooler colored diamonds.
Significantly polishing does not take away any of the metal and make it possible to last several lifetimes, so it can be passed on to your children and grandchildren. Unfortunately, it's more expensive and harder to polish.
